Alana Young received her undergraduate degree in animal science from University of Maryland – College Park in May 2020. During her undergraduate studies, she was a research assistant in a food microbiology laboratory, the Biswas lab. Entering the workforce amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined the CLIA COVID testing lab at Princeton University at its conception. When she joined the CLIA COVID testing laboratory, the lab was not yet set up or processing samples. During this time, her role was to coordinate purchasing of the equipment, instruments, and supplies to get the lab running. Throughout her time in the CLIA COVID testing laboratory, she successfully managed all inventory and stocked all necessary supplies for the varying load of clinical testing throughout the ebb and flow of the pandemic. She served as an essential part of the team processing patient samples and managing the lab inventory. In April of 2022, Alana joined the Jimah lab as the lab manager. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking breads, and trying new restaurants.
