Seraya Jones is from the Caribbean Island of Dominica and completed her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Grambling State University in Louisiana. Before joining the Jimah lab to pursue a PhD in Molecular Biology, she was a research technician at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. We are thrilled to have Seraya join the lab as our first graduate student! She will use structural and biophysical techniques, including cryo-electron microscopy and tomography, to study protein dynamics. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and going to the beach! Seraya is passionate about demystifying the graduate school application process by providing individuals from underrepresented groups with key information needed to successfully apply to graduate schools.
